Need a Little Help, Not a Caregiver? New Stockton Service Helps Seniors Stay Independent

There can come a point when an older adult is still perfectly capable of directing his or her own life but could use help with a few everyday things.

Maybe driving to an appointment has become difficult. Grocery shopping takes more energy than it once did. A prescription needs picking up. The dog needs walking. A new phone needs setting up.

None of that necessarily means someone needs a caregiver.

Sometimes a senior simply needs another pair of dependable hands.

A new Stockton business, Senior Errand & Courier Service, provides practical, non-medical help with transportation, grocery shopping, prescription pickup, errands, companionship, light housekeeping, technology and pet-related assistance.

The idea is simple: getting help with everyday tasks does not have to mean giving up control of everyday life.

Help With the Things That Get in the Way

Consider a doctor’s appointment.

A senior may be perfectly capable of scheduling the visit, speaking with the doctor and making personal healthcare decisions. The problem may simply be getting there.

Senior Errand & Courier Service offers a local one-way ride within Stockton for $25 and a round trip for $45. An appointment escort, including transportation, waiting and the return trip, is $70 for the first hour, with additional time billed in 30-minute increments.

The senior remains in charge. The service helps remove the transportation barrier.

What Kind of Help Is Available?

Services include:

  • Grocery shopping and delivery: $40 an hour
  • Prescription pickup: $25
  • Light housekeeping: $40 an hour
  • Technology assistance: $40 an hour
  • Companionship visits: $30 an hour
  • Transportation: Starting at $25 for a local one-way trip
  • Dog walking and pet care: Available by arrangement

There is also a $65 Errand Relief Visit, providing up to 90 minutes for a combination of errands, pickups and deliveries, mail, light household tasks or technology help.

That may be useful for someone who does not need ongoing assistance but has several small things that need to get done.

Getting Help Does Not Mean Giving Up Independence

Independence does not mean doing everything alone.

You can have someone drive you to an appointment, deliver groceries or help set up your phone and still remain in charge of your life.

The assistance removes a practical obstacle. You still make the decisions.

Know What the Service Does—and What It Doesn’t

Senior Errand & Courier Service provides non-medical practical assistance. It is not a home-health agency, nursing service or emergency transportation provider.

It does not provide nursing, therapy, medication administration, wound care, bathing, toileting, lifting, transfers or medical treatment. It also does not control a client’s finances or make financial decisions for the client.

Someone who needs medical or hands-on personal care requires a different level of service. Someone who needs transportation, errands, light household help, technology assistance or companionship may simply need practical help.

Prices Are Confirmed Before Service Begins

Senior Errand & Courier Service is self-pay, meaning insurance is not billed.

Prices are confirmed before service begins. Groceries, prescriptions and other purchased items are paid separately by the client. Longer trips and trips involving multiple stops are quoted before scheduling.

The service is operated personally by Brad Tipton, who has completed a California Department of Justice and FBI Live Scan background check. Services are scheduled according to availability.
